On August 16, Rick Warren and Saddleback Church hosted a pair of one-hour interviews with each of the Presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama.

The same weekend, Time magazine published a cover story about Rick Warren and also provided a 14-minute audio interview of him in which he told the story of how this event came about and what his objective was for it.
