While in Cambodia, Elizabeth will be involved with the children’s home and following up with Susie on sponsored children that live in some outlying villages. I will spend the bulk of my time teaching local church teachers and leaders. My topic is “Teaching Principles and Methods” (written by Dennis Mock at the Biblical Training Centre for Pastors). Her schedule is a little more flexible; mine is fairly fixed.
Here is our schedule for our time in Cambodia (a 13-hour time difference from Granbury). Jack will probably teach the afternoon sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday:
- Wed/Thurs — DFW non-stop flight to Tokyo (13-14 hours). Two-hour lay-over followed by 6-hour flight to Bangkok. We get to the hotel about 11 p.m. on Thursday.
- Friday — 9 a.m. taxi ride to the border of Cambodia. Cross the border. Two to three hour trip to Sisophon.
- Saturday — rest.
- Sunday — worship and preach in the a.m.
- Monday (1 – 4 p.m.) — “An Introduction to Teaching” — definitions and the Biblical basis for it
- Tuesday (8:30 – 11:30 a.m.) — “What Makes a Good Teacher?”
- Tuesday (1 – 4 p.m.) — “Learning” and “Hindrances to Teaching and Learning”
- Wednesday (8:30 – 11:30 a.m.) — “The Example of Jesus — the Great Teacher”
