Today is an important day

Today is an important day.

Twenty-two years ago today, I was living in Dallas and made a trip to the airport to pick up Raye Jeanne, who was living in Washington state at the time.  She was coming for a 7-10 day visit between my school semesters.

After picking her up, we stopped by the home of some friends where she would be staying, and then I took her to what was then the nicest restaurant I knew — the Southern Kitchen in Dallas (which has long-since gone out of business).

After a very fine dinner, we went back to our friend’s home, we built a fire in the fire place, and after some time of settling my nerves, I asked her the most important question I’ve ever asked her — “will you marry me?”

Twenty-two years.

It’s been wonderful, far exceeding my expectations and longings.

In keeping with the anniversary number, here are 22 words (in alphabetical order) that reflect some of the joy of these years for me:

  • confession
