- by frequently meditating on it (Ps. 119:97)
- by delighting in it — it is his recreation (Jer. 15:16)

- by defending it (Ps. 119:111; Rev. 6:9)
- by preferring it above all things most precious: food (Job 23:12), riches (Ps. 119:72), and worldly honor
- by talking about it (Ps. 119:172)
- by conforming to it (2 Tim. 4:7)
