The kind of Father God is

I didn’t have time to develop this thought fully in my sermon yesterday morning, but here are some Scriptures to stimulate your thinking about the kind of Father God is to His children:

  • He is compassionate toward our needs (whether it is sin or difficulty; 2 Thess. 2:16-17)
  • We are recipients of His mercy — He always demonstrates pity towards us (2 Cor. 1:3)
  • We are the bride of Christ (ever under the tender care of Him and His Father; Eph. 5:25-27; Rev. 19:7-9)
  • We can ask boldly from Him and know He will give us His best (Mt. 7:11; Heb. 4:16).  Everything He gives us is a good gift.
  • We have no fear of loneliness — He will never leave us alone (Ps. 68:5-6)
  • He will not allow Satan to defeat us (Rom. 16:20; 1 Cor. 15:24)
  • He will never disinherit us (Rom. 8:28-30)

These truths (and many more that will take an eternity to discover) are an obvious stimulant to our ability to trust God in all things, and they are also instruction for those of us who are fathers about how we might reveal the character of God in the way we function in our homes.
