If the words that emanate from an individual’s lips reveals the content of that person’s heart, then it is also true that what a person writes is indicative of what is in his heart.
It is with that understanding that Tim Challies has embarked on an interesting adventure for this year — he is endeavoring to read every book on the best seller list in a quest “to learn about life and culture through the lens of all of America’s bestselling books.”
And not only is he reading the books, but he is blogging about and reviewing what he is reading.
Challies is one of the best reviewers of books I’ve come across. What he writes is invariably worth reading. So before you invest in the latest addition to the best seller list, it might be worthy investing a few minutes reading Challies’ review first.
The books he read and reviewed in January were:
- The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande
- All Things at Once by Mika Brzezinski
- Game Change by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin
- Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert
- When the Game Was Ours by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson
- Born to Run by Christopher McDougall
- The Book of Basketball by Bill Simmons
- Last Words by George Carlin
- The Imperial Cruise by James Bradley
- Stones Into Schools by Greg Mortenson
