Reading Ephesians

I have often said that my favorite book of the Bible is the book that I am currently preaching.  And that means my current favorite is Ephesians — the book we have been reading in the Bible reading plan the past couple of days.

Not only is Ephesians a great theological work, offering insight into the inner workings of God and the nature and function of the church, but Ephesians is also for “everyman” — it is the “generic” epistle for spiritual life.  Hiebert notes that the admonitions in the letter “arise out of general experience…”  It is God’s instruction for how everyman is to live in Christ (hence, my title for the book, “Life in Christ”).
