The daily Scripture reading for this morning includes the beginning of the breakup of the unified kingdom of Israel. Instead of one king over the entire nation, as had been the practice under Saul, David, and Solomon, the nation (because of Solomon’s evil sin) was divided into the northern ten tribes and the southern two tribes (Judah and Benjamin). And from the time of Solomon’s death until the deportations into Assyria and Babylon, the one nation Israel would be ruled by two different kings.
And remembering which king is which and who belongs to which kingdom has always been something of a difficulty for me. So several years ago I adapted a chart that I keep in my Bible so that I can remember “who is who.” Perhaps this simple chart might help you as well. You may download it here.
