Charles Spurgeon has long been called “the prince of preachers.”
That is to say, he is recognized as being supreme among all other preachers. The best of the best.
In a similar way, Haddon Robinson might be called “the professor of preachers.” Probably no single preacher has influenced and developed more preachers in our generation than Robinson. Not only has he taught and modeled preaching in three different seminaries for over four decades, but his book Biblical Preaching is the standard text for expository preaching. He recently presented a four-part series of messages at Dallas Theological seminary entitled, “Have You Heard the One About…”
After listening to the first couple of his sermons in that series, I listened to our own David Gibson who filled our pulpit this past Sunday and was struck by the similarity in style, tone, and cadence between the two. Listen to David here.
