To follow Christ is to go down the narrow way. There is no broad pathway to Christ. Follow Christ and you will be constricted from many choices and desires.
And there is liberty in that narrow way:
So I will keep Your law continually,
Forever and ever.
And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts. (Psalm. 119:44-45)
In fact, the word “liberty” means “in a wide path.” So to walk the narrow way of God and Christ is to actually experience freedom and liberty and “wideness.” A free and unhampered life is only for those who go the narrow way of Jesus. Conversely, those who choose the wide path away from Christ will find themselves in the end constricted by the bondage of sin.
Give me the narrow way.
