This may be the best sermon I’ve heard in weeks or even months.
In his final message at the Bethlehem Conference for Pastors, Sam Storms proposes that the best way to fight sin is to have a different affection. Instead of telling people seek God instead of pleasure, Storms says that we must seek our pleasure in God.
That is, the only way you can conquer one pleasure is with another greater and more pleasing pleasure. The only way to break the bondages of sin is by cultivating a passion for joy and delight in beholding the beauty of Jesus.
This sermon is not only a help in conquering the ongoing battle with sin and the flesh, but it is a kind and firm directive on stimulating a deep affection for the living God.
