That the world — all of it, in every sphere — belongs to the Lord was expressed well by Dutch theologian Abraham Kuyper:
“…there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!'”
Of course his assertion was preceded by God’s own declaration:
“Who has given to Me that I should repay him?
Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.” (Job 41:11)
He owns it all. He does as He pleases. And all that He pleases not only glorifies Him, but is also for our greatest good. Everything. This truth is our joy and hope.
