Doctors, coaches, judges aren’t disqualified by failure in the home. There is a man who is running for president who is on his third wife. It’s not a disqualifier, but it is for us. That separates us from everyone in our culture. It is a disqualifier. But also we are to be exemplary as husbands and fathers. We can’t not just fail miserably, but from a biblical perspective, to enter into those positions, we are qualified for our positions by being exemplary (not perfect) husbands and fathers.
Why? Does God just throw that standard out there? No. This passage demonstrates why it is so important for us.
