Bible Reading in 2020

The Bible is the instrument of transformation in the life of the believer. Jesus asked His Father, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth” (Jn. 17:17).  When the believer is transformed, it is because of and through the Scriptures being used by the Spirit of God in his life.  The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to turn the individual into a man of God.

That means that the Bible is an essential tool in the life of the believer.  We do well to regularly take the Word of God into our lives.  That happens by reading the Bible, studying the Bible, meditating on the Bible, memorizing the Bible, and listening to the Bible (often through sermons).  And all those activities begin with reading.  We need the Bible and getting the Bible begins with reading.

To help you read the Bible, we (at GBC) have put together three different Bible reading plans for you to follow this year.  Many other plans are also available.  What matters is not which plan one follows; what matters is that one regularly reads the Bible with the intent of cultivating love and obedience to that Word.

Here are our three readings.  Pick one.  Read.

  • Through the Bible chronologically
  • Through the OT chronologically
  • Through the NT chronologically
