Some helpful articles from around the Internet. This week’s articles focus mainly on the topics of technology and counseling:
- Timothy Raymond has a list of “20 Things Pastors Hear in Counseling.” How many of these are you equipped to help people address biblically?
- John Piper reminds us why the Psalms are so significant in counseling — because they speak to and express our emotions: “What the Psalms Do.”
- The newest edition of CCEF’s Journal of Biblical Counseling is available online. You may download it for free until the next issue is posted. I haven’t read it yet, but a couple of articles that look interesting are David Powlison’s, “How Does Scripture Change You,” and Aaron Sironi and Michael Emlet’s “Evaluating a Person with Suicidal Desires.”
- “100 Names of Jesus”
- Nathan Bingham asks, “What will be on your tombstone?” That’s a great question to coincide with a book I’m reading and really enjoying, O Love That Will Not Let Me Go.
- Nicolle Whitaker asks, “Are your Internet habits making you blind spiritually?” Similarly, Scott Oliphant encourages us to withdraw and unplug from some of our technology in “Christianity, Unplugged,” and Tim Challies notes “What We Miss” by being so plugged in to our technology. I believe that while technology itself is amoral, the way we use it has moral implications, and too few of us think significantly about this topic.
- With Father’s Day being next Sunday, you will find encouragement in reading “20 Quotes from Father Hunger.”
- A must read — “Today Was Supposed to Be My Wedding Day” — a story about a woman’s bold faith, when she came to trust Christ after her engagement and her fiance did not. Do not miss this article.
