I came across these articles a while ago (some a few years ago) but they are still helpful:
- “I Know a Place…” is a good reminder about an essential place (and Person).
- Jeremiah 17:9 is often misused and misapplied leading to discouragement and even despair. John Piper helpful asks and answers, “Is the Christian’s Heart Deceitfully Wicked?”
- Do you know someone who is abandoning faith in Christ? Consider “3 Questions D.A. Carson Asks Potential Apostates” and “Apostasy and Pastoral Preparation for the Conflict Ahead” by Denny Burk. The story of Joshua Harris is a tragic warning of the reality of apostasy.
- Would you watch “A Movie So Good It Will Ruin You?” Tim Elmore considers similar ideas in “Saved by Grace But Entertained by Sin.”
- Heath Lambert and Jim Hamilton offer “A Pastoral Response To Transgenderism.”
- “Imagine There’s No Hell”
- Philip Jensen meditates on life and death after the death of his grandson.
- It’s not counsel directly sourced from Scripture, but “Wise Parenting Dos and Don’ts From 1886” contains much wise (and biblical) direction for parents.
- Titus 2:2 was appropriate for men in Paul’s day. It’s still true today, as Denny Burk explains in “A Word to the Older Men.”
- There are many great books to read; there are far more bad books that shouldn’t be read. So what should you do when your friend is reading one of those crazy bad books?
- Christmas is almost a month behind us. It’s not too late to write a thank you note. It is an art, indeed.
- “Ten Practical Ways to Control Spending and Wisely Manage God’s Money” is something worth considering at the beginning of this year.
- “The Real Genius of the Reformation” — hint: it’s about the supremacy of God.
