A few things spotted on the web that have caught my interest of late:
- I’ve been thinking more about the relationship between social justice and evangelism lately. Here is a brief video interview with John Piper on the topic.
- The Gospel Coalition has several brief articles on the same topic of social justice and evangelism by several well-known theologians and pastors.
- Reformation Sunday was over a month ago, but good history is always worth learning and Stephen Nichols is one of the better contemporary historians of the Christian faith. He recently spoke at Omaha Bible Church about the Reformation.
- Al Mohler writes that, “The Christian worldview is structured, first of all, by the revealed knowledge of God. There is no other starting point for an authentic Christian worldview—and there is no substitute.”
- When I was in seminary, “Power Encounters” was a popular buzzword and topic. You don’t hear the term as often, but there are still questions about what spiritual warfare is and how it should function in the life of the believer. David Powlison wrote a book on the topic several years ago, and Justin Taylor has synthesized his notes from Powlison’s book on the topic.
- Are you wise or foolish? A good indicator, Josh Harris notes, is how you respond to instruction and correction (helpful and simple chart included).
- How do you respond to the reality that “Every day you live there are more things you are never going to do?” Sam Crabtree answers.
- Paul Tripp considers the reality that, “forgiveness doesn’t always look beautiful to us.…So, it is important to consider the relationship-damaging stages of the harvest of unforgiveness.”
- CBMW writes about “The Deadly Fruit of “Gender Selection.”
- It has probably been 25 years since I first heard the term “servant leadership” and read my first book on the topic. Now there is a book that addresses the topic Servanthood as Worship. It appears to be a worthwhile read.
- Al Mohler writes about the danger of the “retreat from marriage.” He also answer’s Time’s question, “Who Needs Marriage?”
- How has the internet impacted us? Has it damaged anything? Maybe. Maybe a lot…
- Al Mohler reminds us that creation is central to a biblical worldview.
